SKL (Foundation for Quality Control of Agricultural Equipment) in Wageningen (the Netherlands) is the Dutch organisation for testing agricultural machines in use.

New equipment

For placing new equipment the Machinery Directive is expanded with demands for pesticide application equipment by means of the amendment of the Machinery Directive, EU directive 2009/127/ec.

 

Equipment in use.

According to paragraph 8 ofthe EU Directive for a Sustainable use of Pesticides (2009/128/ec) all pesticide application equipment in the EU must be inspected before the end of 2016.

In the Netherlands this EU directive is integrated in the Law on Pesticides and Biocides. The existing obligation for the periodical inspection of field-crop sprayers and air-assited sprayers is expaned with the obligation for a periodical inspection of all types pesticide application equipment in use, except knansack sprayers.

This inspections are done according to the harmonized standards EN-ISO 16122. SKL is organizing and supervising this inspection scheme on behalf of the Ministry of Ecomonic Affairs.
